Voodoo Cowbell Imperial Oatmeal Milk Stout

I wish this was a video.

Ever since having Southern Tier’s Choklat, I have not been able to enjoy Young’s Double Chocolate Stout. In moving to Choklat, there was a loss of that creaminess I love about Young’s.  Choklat is just straight chocolate.  Voodoo Cowbell Imperial Oatmeal Milk Stout (9% abv) has filled that creamy gap.  It sits on my palate like Young’s used to with all the complexity and creaminess.  It’s likely not fair, however, to just identify it as Young’s 2.0.  Voodoo clearly found a niche and fills it well (I also enjoyed their Gran Met several times during beer week.)  This rounded out Monday night of Beer Week and was a treat of an office neighbor.  I cannot resist a free drink, no matter how much I should go home; I am glad, however, that AK was there to share it.

They were just happy to see each other in this space, to know, to have something familiar.  So, essentially, I behaved and ordered the nitro-powered Voodoo Cowbell.  The first sip made me close my eyes, but eventually it seemed a little sweet and flat.  But really, how could it have lived up to last year? I’ve had a year to glamorize it in my memory. Voodoo Cowbell [...]
