Duvels All Around

Duvel (8.5% abv) is one of my all-time favorite beers.  It’s on my top five list.  When I shared such appreciation with the Duvel rep, he offered to buy me one.  I had to run out to show my upcoming apartment and he was set to leave since the event was over at 7.  But, luckily for me and my friends, the Duvel crew hung out – and drank on – for quite some time.  I returned to Belgian Cafe to find the rep, his team and the offer of free Duvel still standing.  One by one, my three friends found me and the Duvel gang generously sponsored Duvels for them as well.  I was a bit embarrassed as an offer of one turned into four, but they didn’t seem to mind.  We all, of course, went with classic Duvel.  Duvel Green is simply not as tasty – not as complex or impressive.  Meg did explain that Duvel Green is young, fermented for 90 days and packaged fresh.  It’s simply not bottle-conditioned like it’s older, better brother.  Maybe it would be better on a hot summer day…I’m pretty sure I made everyone turn their glasses around so we could see the labels:
